Cottonwood Seed

I am like a cottonwood seed learning how to grow

When mother nature planted me in the forest floor below

And I know I'll never sing as sweet as the Swainson's Thrush

But I'll do the best that I can, 'cause life cannot be rushed

Looking out upon the stream wishing I could be

Something beautiful and silver like the fish that swim past me

But here I am sitting in a ball of cotton fluff

Wondering how it is I'll ever make it back to the sky above

But oh somewhere deep inside I know

Patience is a gift, it's not always easy to grow
