Need You to Know

I was the first one you saw when you opened your eyes

The one who would hold you and steady your cries

I fed you from bottles and small tiny spoons

Rocketship hugs and flights to the moon

Pushing the stroller to get you to nap

Or just sit there and hold ya asleep in my lap

Drop offs at daycare and pick ups at five

Watching you play there right when I arrive

Walking the garden and pulling the weeds

With your smiling face and a handful of peas

Fixing the tractor when tires go flat

Questions to answer, "hey Dad what is that"
