Dream In Her Pocket

Dreams have a shelf life her momma told her first when she was five

Faith fades away, you start believing the excuses you made for settling

In the corner there's an old trunk covered in stickers and scars of a life

But the stories it could tell aren't hers and the clicking clock is threatening

Especially when it's too late into the night to not hear his truck in the drive

She closes her weary eyes and she's driving

Headed south down towards the Milky Way

Out of this one light town on her way to Austin

A dream in her pocket, she can no longer stay

When she woke alone in the morning it was clear he'd done her a favor
