Only What's Here

I never know the day of the week

Or even half of what I mean when I breathe out to speak

I'm happy in my house when it doesn't leak

And I often tip toe around so the floor doesn't creak

And as long as I'm careful and the weather stays clear

I can stay in this house and think of only what's here

But though the rain may go away sometimes even for years

It's always raining somewhere it never disappears

Now there's a tapping on my windows

And a howling in my ears

I draw the curtain slowly and see what I feared
