Repentance

I found myself remembering the scriptures, "Awake, awake, awake!"

Where had I been, and what had I done to leave such a wake?

How long have I been gone, I thought, as I flipped through my fears

"Wake up!" I said when I committed acts that only brought tears

"Stay away," I cried as I read of friends that I had hurt or wronged

"I'm not awake, please This isn't me" I hoped and longed

And knowing I couldn't, I pled for forgiveness from all

And they forgave me, and some did not, but I made call after call

"I'm sorry" I said "I knew no better then But now I know

I'm disgusted" They said "How could you not have known?"
