When I Met The Devil

I met the devil on the cold side of the mountain where I was born

He had a face to send boys like me to war to never come home

The preacher says everyone's a sinner but he called me out by name

And now I sit here on the fence twisting knots inside my brain

Now my soul's been bought and paid for, I'm free to live my life

You can count me among the outcasts, sinners, rejects for all damn time

I left home at age eighteen, unconsciously seeking a change

I met that old cruel man again when my old life seemed estranged

He said "Boy, what you doing? You don't need to live this way

Countless souls that walk this earth have seen the light of my ways"

Now he don't know that this old soul has been fighting to find the truth
