I'm gonna miss this dog when he's gone

We got some kind of E.T. and Elliot thing going on

And when I get angry, he just gets mad

And when I get happy, oh, he just gets glad

He's the best darn dog that a human being could ever have

It's true that the animals are a whole lot nicer to us

Than we ever have been with them

You see, we're not above the unconditional love

In spite of neglect in a world that is tough

You just throw him a ball and a bone and fill his bowl

And that is enough
