A for Effort

Who'd've thought my voyage would end on such a note

As the harbor beckoned me and my shiny new boat?

When I charted my approach to the port against the gray

The fates laughed in my face and thrust me in a haze

I'd only had a few drinks, I was ready for the test

I kept my course into the fog and hoped for the best

With a thunderous bang I found the dock as the fog cleared

I deemed it a success, for I hadn't spilled my beer

My ship was now in timbers, the dock in smithereens

I emerged from the water, and surveyed the smoldering heap
