The Conversation

In the morning, I raise my head then I find my knees just to speak with you

In the evening, I give thanks to the One who has met my needs as I lay down my head

In the middle of my rise and fall I talk to him because I've heard his call

And try to listen when I pray to him because I want to hear what he has to say

Not in the thunder or the rushing wind not in the quaking or the shifting sand

Not in the fire though we've known his flame patiently waiting when we call his name

But when we finally quiet the din of noise, he speaks to us with a still small voice

And while we have this conversation with him our lives are nourished and rebuilt from within

Through time and patience where our character builds; we open spaces for the Spirit to fill
