It's half past five in Ireland they gather down the street

Relaxing in the public house near a glowing fire of peat

When the room is warm with laughter and the songs are bright and bold

And there's poetry and magic in the stories that are told

We all are full of happiness and gather up in song

And blessed we will surely be when loved ones come along
