The neon of the launderette sign breaks through the blinds

The night hums under the weight of a million different minds

I don't know love songs, I'm wide awake

But there's nothing really here that is a stake

To the east the stacks and the smoke cross the tracks

And the tracks cross the water, their banks leaning their backs

On the concrete and grass as the ferries slowly pass

Under bridges, to places I've never been

I look at your face, And I wonder what you have seen

The places where you belong, the places you've always been
