Briars

They're closing the bar so you have to leave

Put on your coat and head out on the street

Stare at the neon shivering slightly on the wall

And whisper you've never felt this small

You were outside, alone, waiting for someone to recognize you

But this isn't home you left it behind to become someone new

No you couldn't stay where all of your limbs were wrapped in briars

So you lit a match and prayed that you wouldn't catch on fire

Stand on the platform watch as the air

Escapes from your mouth and evaporates there
