It's hard not to doubt when your neighbor

Steps out of the house with your color of skin

Then gets beat to the street, the victim

Of a crowd that sees him as nothing but a sin

My mother and brother dead beside each other

Of course I can't sleep anymore

My tears and fears wetting me under the covers

What am I concealing them for?
