Wolves

4:30am and the traffic on the highway has crawled to a stop

And I don't have the will left in me to force the walk

So I crawl into the forest like a hungry dog

And find a low hanging pine tree to sleep

Underneath the branches of until morning

Cold and hungry all alone and listening

To the crickets and the wolf pups as I fall asleep

As if this was a dream I was having

And I'm actually home fast asleep

I realize in the instant that I drift off

The wolves watching me are my guard dogs
