You Can't Please Everybody

For once in my life, I think I've got it right when I say I've been doing it wrong.

You can't please everybody every single time, and I'm shocked it took me this long!

If I had a dime for every time I've compromised my tastes,

I'd be the richest son of a gun in all the fifty states!

It's cool to invariably do what you do - I understand the need for change,

But don't sell out no matter how much cash - there's gotta be another way.

And don't lose faith if you're tryin' to do it right but nobody seems to care.

Somebody out there will love your tunes; the rest can eat your underwear!

Don't do it for money, don't do it for fame, don't do it 'cause you think you'll get girls.

Do it for the music, do it for yourself, and do it 'till the end of the world.

Take it from me, I've been around the block, and I've seen the ups and downs.

I don't let the highs go to my head and I've never been out for long.
