The Lake

The nights in the city were quiet after the nightly searches for those kids

And all the lights in the buildings were silent as the trees surrounded the fifty

People who built their homes here

Around the rocks and the graves and holes here

Around the statues of gods we were never taught whose names are forever lost to time like mine

The lights in the cabin were burned out a couple years after we headed out

And all the furniture was untouched

Covered in dust just waiting for us

There were lots of caves to search in

And lots of days to search for

It would've helped if somebody had knew our names, or maybe not
