Ieva's Polka

The polka playing from my neighbor's house

Did set my feet tip-tapping oh

Ieva's mother had her eye on her daughter but

Ieva she did manage to fool her you know

Who would likely listen to their mother saying no

When they're all busy dancing to-and-fro

Ieva she was smiling and the fiddle was a-wailing

And the girls all gathered round to wish her luck

Every head of hair there was hanging down with sweat

And the violin went on and on screeching so

This young laddie doesn't mind a bit of wet
