Ever Really Know

You'll have heard it in the river rushing by, you've heard it on the wings of birds that fly

Over your head out walking in the winds that they fly on

It's a feeling in the back of your mind, those words on the tip of your tongue

It's there in the prints you leave behind as you walk on

Some things are too big to keep inside in the confines of your mind

Better out than in the saying goes

Though I've lost count how many times I thought I'd seen it in your eyes

Still I wonder if you'll ever really know

You'll see it in the changing of the leaves as all the trees move through the seasons

Every shade of red and gold falling down
