Fire in Me

He had a bible in his hand vet cap on his head at the door of the Texaco

He was handing out flyers that said Jesus loves you and he died for your soul

I said hey young man how many of them do you think you've given away

He said son I stopped counting 60 years ago with a big smile on his face

He said I came to know the Lord when I was just a boy in the summer of 43

And I could feel every word that preacher was preaching at that old brush arbor meet

And I can still hear that choir singing Just as I Am

I was Saved that day and my life changed when I rose from that watery grave

Since that day I still believe and that same fire still burns in me

I've fought two wars and lived both times lost my friends and lost my wife but
