A Baby's Eyes

A friend of mine let me know that his child gave birth today

Right now it seems birth announcements are always coming my way

When I was young and cynical I didn't want to have kids no way, no how

I didn't want to bring a kid into such a messed-up world but look at me now

Now my kids are having children, kids of their own

And they'll probably have them too when they're all grown

Where do we all find so much faith and so much hope

Where do we find the courage that lets us cope

The news of the world still fills me with despair

There's so much trouble, so much that gets me scared
