The Box

You left behind a few things

I guess that love never leaves a slate that's clean

I wish you'd taken them all

They whisper to me all the time from down the hall

I put what you forgot in a small cardboard box

It's in the closet at the very top

I tried to forget about it but

There's not a day goes by that I don't open it up

Hiding the memories didn't make the pain stop

I'm trapped in all this stuff, wrapped up in us

I just can't make myself think outside the box
