    A landscaper, or gardener, prunes in three instances


    The first instance that a gardener prunes

    Is that a rose bush is going produce more roses then the bush can handle

    The rose bush cannot sustain it, because the rose bush can only produce so much

    So it can't feed all of the roses equally

    So a gardener prunes the good roses, so that the best roses can receive all the resources from the bush
