Lyrics
It's not very nice being here
The sky is white, ill-intentioned
There's something desperate
In this artificial race of mind against the current
Nobody is taking the road to Pola but me
There is the ends of the port's last worksites
The last tenements against the set smoky mountains
And the white curtain of sky
Every so often along the road by the sea
Past the uninterrupted sequence of groups of houses with unscalable walls
There is a beach with families on it
Admist the eternal smile of triumphant youth
A brief desolate teeming
I pass through Muggia with its little port a miniature copy of Trieste's
A gloomy copy of Grado's
Other shoals short colourful beaches beyond hard parapets
And here Lazzaretto the last beach in Italy
Its incredible to find one last spark of Italy here
And it's Italy as I haven't seen her for hundreds of miles
