In my quest and my search for God

I found something that struck me as rather odd

I was looking for the fire, bright light, the blaze of glory

Fall to my knees, Angel of the Lord before me

You've heard the stories, we've been taught the lessons

Mighty men of God ushered into the presence

Deliver my people out of their oppression- come on

But if I follow one example of Christ

I've been walking past Jesus all my life

I've seen the hungry and thirsty and ain't broke bread

I've seen the stranger, the naked, and turned my head

I've seen the sick and afflicted, those in prison

Ain't visited a soul, dead religion

Here I am looking for signs and missing the signs

I must be blind, Lord, help me to renew my mind

We are the Body of Christ

We've all been called by the Giver of Life

To make the ultimate sacrifice

To give our lives for another, yeah I know that's some hard advice

But if we're all here to follow Christ

Then we all need to model His life

There are no desperados in Christ and there's no need to hobble through life

When we all got family in the Body of Christ

We all talk about seeking the face of the Lord

But that don't always mean we need to put our face to the floor

I've been confessing, professing how I walk in His light

But all along I'm neglecting the Body of Christ, something's wrong

Am I really walking in the will of God

If I won't let you feel my heart

If my steel façade, won't allow me to reveal my scars

Or if I don't want to deal with yours, Lord help me

See we all got different complexions,

Different backgrounds, so we all got different perspectives

And we all came from different directions

But we're all looking forward to the same resurrection

And we're all walking toward the same state of perfection

We all got the same Father, so we've got the same connection

Got the same Spirit living in us and working through us

Whether you're white, black, yellow, or Jewish

We are the Body of Christ

We've all been called by the Giver of Life

Am I in the right place today

I know the Lord has a place for me, I've got a question though

Is my father in the house today

I never knew mine, now he's passed away, just hear me y'all

Is my mother in the house today

Mine's 2000 miles away, Lord help me please

Is my a brother here amongst my peers

My real one locked away, he'll be gone 20 years

Is anyone in need of a son, or a brother

I'll be the one, I think we might need each other

Let's greet each other, receive each other

We can feed each other, and ease each other

See we might as well get together since we're knit together

Forever, there's strength together whenever we stick together

God's endeavor is to show humanity

The love in His family

We are the Body of Christ
