Lyrics
Between the foliage green
The perfunctory passerines
Are performing all of their routines
Singin' all them ' tweedley-oh's'
Searching for seeds and for worms
But oh when the earth yearns set in
A brave disruptor will come around schemin'
Singin "oh to be more is to own"
Taking and building
A fantastical nest
To fulfill, protect, and impress
But towering over
Will be a spectacle at best
The misunderstanding of the hollowing of a soul
Oh as you'd expect the passerines were quite upset
With ruffled feathers they tried voicing their concerns but that greedy beak said,
"Oh passerines you belong to me
You're so sweet and fleeting
I can sing about you all evening
As long as I can get what I am needing
My wings will keep you dry from the rain
Just ignore the shadows on your head"
Now the trees are silent and bare
They were picked over nicely
And picked over twicely
And gobbled all up
By a selfish one
and the troubled hubs of shrubs
once loved are snubbed
rubbles of dust
Bleak and weakened
They left without a home
The shriveled sweetie birds have flown
And branches are bending
Under the weight of the crooked beak
Whose hollow space fills all the trees
Bulging and belching
Are you sore are stuffed?
Have you had enough or
Will you go until you explode?
I'm feeling further from hope
Like the feathers of a bird with a greedy beak
