Now, money wasn't something many of us in

Sleepy Hollow had much of way back then

And so Ichabod Crane was paid for his services in a very strange manner

Each family of the boys and girls he taught would take turns

And for one week at a time

They would provide Ichabod with a bed to sleep in

And all of his daily meals

All in all, the schoolmaster lived more than comfortably

Not only were his needs well taken care of

But because of his respected position

He soon became admired by many of the region's young ladies

Only one of these damselles, however, a beauty named

Katrina van Tassel had any such effect on Ichabod Crane

Harpooned the lovestruck Mr Crane

And in no time at all, he fell madly for her

Miss van Tassel's father's name was Baltus

And he was a very wealthy farmer

His land stretched as far as the human eye could see

And to put it quite plainly

His great financial resources seemed to turn the heads

Of many an envious acquaintance

Katrina wished, however

That people would see her father as more than just a rich man

Because she adamantly explained that he was a truly wonderful person

And there was so much more to him than a mere sum

Healthy as it may have been, of dollars and cents
