Jimmy stared from his room at an autumn blood moon

He was five years old and in crisis

His parents both used they were sick and confused

He was left to his own devices

With no direction he lost the connection

Between what's right and what's wrong

At twelve he was lost his wires were crossed

He was out of control and headstrong

The crowd he fell in with were fun to begin with

He was blind to the storm that was brewing

He was drawn to their game like a moth to a flame

As he ran down the road to ruin

Alcohol drugs dealers and thugs

Embraced him when he should have run

And soon he lost track of the road that led back

He was no Prodigal Son

At first he could cope with the booze and the dope

It hadn't yet taken its toll

But as time went on his addiction grew strong

And began to creep into his soul

And so as it grew Jimmy he knew

His habit would need something stronger

When he turned to smack there was no turning back

It made him feel normal for longer

He took to thieving to lying deceiving

He lived in a fool's paradise

He knew all the tricks just lived for the fix

With nothing but scorn for advice

He was up to his neck with dealers and debt

When he made the wrong call and he blew it

With his back to the wall he'd lost it alll

There was no way out and he knew it

A dead man walking breathing and talking

With nowhere to run or to hide

And it's fair to tell in his living hell

He was desperate and empty inside

He abandoned all hope to an armful of dope

Felt the rush and he lay down to die

As the life that he led still hung by a thread

He watched a blood moon rise low in the sky
