Lyrics
God help me, I was only seventeen
When the demons came to Vega by the sea
My city burned against the southern sky
As we loaded on the only ship to flee
I guess that I was luckier than most
For my class was on a field trip far away
All studying the fauna of the coast
That inhabited the planet of R'lee
I left a lot behind there when I fled
A family and a home I barely saw
So caught up in my work, I never thought
In the blinking of an eye, it'd all be gone
The others wept and pleaded as we ran
They begged the pilot, "Turn the ship around!"
But I knew there was nothing left to save
As I watched the devils burn my planet down
There was a kind of beauty
A savage sort of grace
An elegant simplicity displayed
How easy they had made it look
The murder of a world
I learned a lot the day they burned R'lee
You have to give them credit
These "demons from beyond"
They are but simple creatures in the end
They made but one mistake
Though a fatal one at that
They let me slip away to plot revenge
I doctored in the study of the art
Of enhancing and manipulating genes
For further explanation, I will start
By directing your attention to the screen
As you can see, here is a specimen
We were fortunate to take this one intact
We've learned so much about this creature's home
But I guarantee it won't be going back
It's an elegant equation
It's simply "us or them"
And given "either or" I'll side with us!
They've asked me for solutions
And I've come up with a few
The High Command has given me their trust
I've made a little potion
An elixir, if you will
Just the thing to cure a nasty cough
All corked up in a bottle
A wicked little bomb
And I'll ask the fleet to kindly drop it off!
I hear you have a problem
A planet overrun
The colony on Vesper Alpha Six
So be a dear and run along
And see my work is done
I promise you this bomb is just the fix!
I see that you may have some doubts
My military friend
But any humans will be left, alive and well
For you'd have to be a demon
To understand the joke
That I've written for the denizens of hell!
I think that I was happy once
In Vega by the sea
Counting little turtles in the sand
But the turtles are all gone now
Leaving only me
And the devils who will all die at my hand
