Thunder clouds meet on the silvery sea

The late November chill finds the Skeleton Key

A creak in her keel and her paint is all but gone

But wind in her sails and a crew of one

Salt in his blood and iron his heart

Set sail one afternoon without a course to chart

His last voyage holds one desire in his eyes

From the bow of his ship, behold One Last Sunrise

Ill moon above, bad omens on the wind

The ragged hull screams, something echoes from within

A gash in her side from the ocean's icy nails

The bitter winds strike like a knife in her sails

By now he knows

By the bridge light glow

The rain and sea collide

The Skeleton Key, awash with frozen knives

Slips to her side

Wooden boards snap, rendered to scrap

Sails scream and burst at the seams

All hope's lost as the ship is tossed

He must defend 'til the violent end

She sank like lead, as the story goes

Her final word, one dull wooden groan

The Key had carved out her own corner of the Earth

Now she lays sideways embedded in the dirt

One soul lost at sea, his last thoughts are of home

Forsaken in a field of wood with no more seas to roam

He slipped beneath the waves and was never seen again
