A chorus line

Fills the stage with trilling notes in time

Echoes wide

The hall is hollow, balcony left dry

A sonic fade

Their faces fall, their arms wrap shoulders then

They take a bow

To no applause or rhythmic encore chants

The road ahead like someone drew it there

Some dirt and grass and rocks and bugs and things
