Zachariah and Elizabeth

Were up in years and childless

They were good in the eyes of the Lord

Had no idea what God had in store

It was a warm October day

Zachariah went to the temple to pray

He prayed like he always had done

Zachariah saw an angel appear

The angel told him, don't be afraid

Set by God to tell you that plans have been made

Elizabeth will bear you a son

A great source of joy in his name will be John

You will prepare the way of the Lord

His Holy Spirit will overflow

Many lost and lonely souls

Will discover there is a road back home

Zachariah says, how can this be

We are too old, anybody can see

Is there a way for sure to find out

I want a son, but I'm having some doubt

I'm Gabriel and I'm telling you true

God sent me here to give this message to you

Since you don't believe that it was you that I seek

Until the baby is born you shall not speak
