Sophomore Slump (Wabi-Sabi) Lyrics

Good afternoon to everyone & thank you for the opportunity to speak with you today

I would first like to start off with a metaphor

As we get ready to turn our tassels & cross this stage we are at the end of this book

And we are closing out our heroes journey having learned that above all we had a irrevocable intrinsic value

When I think of this intrinsic value I think of one term which comes from the Japanese language & this is

Wabi-Sabi

I admittedly learned Wabi-Sabi the hard way

That beauty is in the imperfections & impermanence rather than a perfect life

None of us have lead perfect lives & we will only make more mistakes

All we can do is be the people we know we are

As a matter of fact we can all think of times that we were not the heroes of our stories

This might be the time we snapped at our parents or when we were jealous of a friends accomplishments

Such mistakes have been numerous

But we must not dwell & unintentionally forget to live
