I woke up this morning like I always do

I went to the kitchen to get coffee and bread to toast

To my fright and surprise

Crawling across the floor was a big black ugly spider

He was going to his web he had made the night before

Without thinking much I walked over and raised my foot

To crush down on his head and end his life for good

When to my shock and surprise

The spider turned to me and said. Why?? would your God do this

I held my foot in the air

I was shocked first that a spider was talking to me

But mostly I could not answer his question

I could not think of a reason to kill him

And I knew God would not approve killing something for no reason

So I stepped away and got my coffee

The spider went to his web to get his breakfast

We both had a great day

So before you raise your fist in anger again

Before you hurl another horrible racial slur

Before you burn someone or throw a rock or kill someone

Answer the spider's question

And if you can't

Then don't do it
