Welcome to the Great Lakes, place of the four seasons

You ever been? If not, well let's blaze through some core reasons

The pro and college sports here have way more meaning

And the sunsets are incredible on lakeshore evenings

Some people prefer oceans, different strokes for different folks

Summers on Lake Michigan and Superior's frigid cold

And the Sunrise Side, from Huron out I'm hittin HOMES

There is nowhere quite like here anywhere in the globe

And Erie's south shoreline really does have it all

And Ontario's beauty's including Niagara Falls

The Soo Locks' a cool spot to see freighters with massive hauls

And you gotta see the spectrum of colors we have in Fall

But shhh, don't tell anyone, keep it a secret

Those with no future vision have been eager to leave it

There's so much stuff to do you wouldn't even believe it

With a cost of living index that keeps us the cheapest

You wanna go somewhere to avoid the tidal waves?

But still lay on the beach and catch some ultraviolet rays?

I come from Michigan, and what you know about the state?

Sure we don't have oceans and indeed there's not a mountain range

But what we lack in those, we make up for with astounding lakes

And picture perfect towns, andale to Tawas Bay

I've lived other places but this one is unique

Go from Paradise to Hell in just a couple of streets

Cruise 119 through the Tunnel of Trees

But only in the Fall beneath the wonder of leaves

With world class breweries and even better wineries

It is plain as day that Michiganders love the finer things

This really is the best state and we don't even try to be

Compare us to Ohio? Man that's not even a rivalry

St. Joseph to Muskegon, Ludington to Manistee

Traverse City, Elk Rapids and even Petoskey

The Mighty Mac to Marquette, they're places you gotta see

Throw in Detroit and Grand Rapids, they're places you wanna be

You wanna go somewhere to avoid the tidal waves?

But still lay on the beach and catch some ultraviolet rays?

Make your way around the globe without escaping your home

Come in summer for the beaches and then stay for the snow

When the Aurora Borealis is displaying a show

I could talk about my state until I'm blue in the face

But I still couldn't convey it's such a beautiful place

From East Lansing Green and White to the Deuce and the Ace

All the way to Escanaba where Da Moon hits the bay

Main Streets and boutiques replace what's rottin' in malls

And if you've skipped the ThumbCoast, you've been droppin' the ball

Climb Sleeping Bear Dunes to feel on top of it all

Or take a hike through the woods to see Tahquamenon Falls

And Isle Royale is as remote as can be

Even on a lake you've never felt more coastal a breeze

The picturesque landscape seems stolen from dreams
