Lyrics
A lonesome pirate sails further and further from the shore
Taking on the waters he sailed not long before
After sealing all his gallows he catches his first wind
Knowing not where he's going but only knowing where he's been
The wind gently whispers and ushers him through the night
And he knows down deep within his heart everything will be alright
He sails his ship all by himself
Standing alone like a book atop a shelf
To another distant land he sails pondering what he'll find
With all the lands he come to pass he prays it's his last time
After wandering up the shore he thinks this looks a lot like home
But it's been so long since he's been there it's a new place to which he roams
As he walks in closer he is watched by empty faces
A stranger to all who stop and stare, a stranger to this place
He sails his ship all by himself
Standing alone like a trophy a shelf
But this land has proved different, no longer will he rue his days
No more loathing of his wasted path for he knows that he will stay
After settling with his pirate's gold and his beautiful maiden fair
He hears the whispering wind again still lingering on the air, it whispers
Though you have settled down I'll tell you how it'll always be
And it says before it dies down for good, a pirate's life for thee
He sails his ship all by himself
Standing alone like an urn atop a shelf
