This place is not my home

I've spent years riding bicycles

I know the roads by heart

This place with flattened countryside is where I got my start

But this place is not my home

This may be where my parents live and the things that they possess

I recognize old faces here and know their home address

And though I went to school here as a child, none the less

My life has come to rest

I wish to go and fly away from the safety of the nest

To know I cannot grow here is to know I don't belong

The roads I've grown to know so well are cracked and old and worn

The friends I used to gather with look down on me and scorn

Throughout my drawn out history

My memory goes back

To time that I have wanted to go off the beaten track

And I've named this "The Purgatory for the Life I Need to Lead"

I've yet to find a proper home
