The government is a fun thing to study,

Even though sometimes it may be nutty.

Grab your seats and pull your socks,

You're going to learn why DE government rocks!

We start at the beginning, where we find what really matters.

The constitution outlines government powers.

It says very clearly: the voice of the people!

Let's put public representation and voting on the steeple!

Now America is very old,

Can the reasons for the constitution still be sold?

Would something newer fit better,

Should we toss her out and say "forget her"?

What are civil liberties? What are civil rights?

The difference, my friend, is a simple sight:

Liberties protect from undue intrusion,

Rights protect from biased exclusion.

To keep things straight we need local elections,

So we can hear opinions, even from the Texans.

Those local representatives hop over to capitol hill,

And toss in the hat, our votes to fulfill.

There is a clear downside to bicameralism,

Something that goes hand in hand with capitalism.

Polarization is a wave of opinion,

That splits our nation, even this great dominion.

It affects the stores, shops, bakeries, and malls.

The government thinks, what is best for the country?

As you can see, gov is a pressing topic,

The effects are definitely not microscopic.

Studying government helps to inform,

It unites us all so we won't just conform.
