Lisa Scott is a worldly creature who has made something of herself

She is accomplished and decorated and has many books upon her shelf

But lately there has been idle chatter about some matter from long ago

Although Miss Scott has kept her poise her complexion is as white as snow

in her heart has been lying low

It happened on a gusty morning when the air was full of dread

Miss Scott was running for a train when she heard a voice behind her head

"I've come to settle our account. I've come to collect my debt."

It is said that Lisa did not catch her train but caught another one instead

Lisa said: we all break bread with the devil to get along in our lives

Anyone who refutes this, (lives) is in a state of denial

Prestige and power they make a man and they make a woman too

Everything else is just poetry and the jargon they teach you at school

Some said she jumped onto an empty train with a man wearing a long black gown

And just before the doors did shut she grabbed his hand as he turned her around

When the train had left the station a fowl stench filled the air

Children ran for shelter and the rats ran up the stairs

At Lisa's house there are seven palms that stand around a large swimming pool

When she was young she used to stutter and no one thought she was cool

But on the day of her graduation from a university of some renoun

She was seen doffing her cap to a man in a long black gown
