Down in this underground tomb

I came across an old man lamenting

Unsure if I could still be awake

He begins to recall the old days when he was young

Muttering to himself he begins to tell a tale

Of a family he left long ago

Due to anger and bitterness left within him

I try to speak to him but he cannot hear me

He speaks of lush grass and skylines

But I sense something has changed

Whatever happened long ago leaves him with regrets

Of a past life that he will never get back

I try to move but the roots restrain me still

Held by this old man reflecting on the past

He tells me I'm alone and none will save me

That I must accept my fate

There will be nothing left in the end

That the self will destroy me from within

Unable to make sense of his ramblings

I feel the ground soften as the dirt turns into mud

I want to be out of this pace I need to somehow wake
