Unaware of my surroundings

I look to see a forest surrounding a mountain

Unknown to me what this forest means

I notice a man walking dragging something with him

Into the forest he went and so I followed

Noticing only when getting close he dragged a corpse

At first looking confident but then showing distress

I wonder if he's spotted me so I hide among the trees

I look to my horror as he undresses the body skinning it

Right there and then but in his paranoia he noticed something

His body laying limp upon the forest floor

As I watch the roots begin to grow out of him

He screams outward as I begin to notice

The faces in the trees chanting outwardly

As he did not head there warning

They spoke in an old tongue of which I couldn't understand

As the transformation becomes permanent I look back to see

That the man is now one of those trees

As they all stop and turn their eyes to me

Dragging me back down into the earth the roots covering my screams
