A wild man in the forest calls out in terror

His dreadful body trembles like an aspen

And sweat breaks out from his stiff forehead skin

Zahor's bed! - Zahor is the name

Often spoken by my mother

When she taught me to weave mats

When she laid me on moss with mats

And covered me with a wolf's skin

And now in hell is Zahor's bed

But tell me you - you servant of God

What awaits Zahor on the hellish bed?

God's hand of vengeance is just

But his eternal judgment is hidden

I do not know your hellish torments

But your crimes are no less

Or know that the devil, hearing those words

Horrified at the punishment of Zahor's bed

Returned the bloody record without delay

The century-old pine on the hillside

Proudly stretches its forehead to the sky

Even if the axe comes, the pine bows its head

The wild forest bull in the abundance of its strength

And without end is God's mercy

Here kneel and wait - until at one time

I will return to you out of God's mercy

So says the pilgrim, and goes on his way

And Zahor kneels, kneels incessantly

He kneels day and night - he does not drink, he does not eat

Sighing, he begs for God's mercy

Day after day passes; snow is already gathering

Icy frosts are already coming

And Zahor kneels, does not stop begging

But he waits in vain for the pilgrim

He does not come, he does not return to him
