Whoa-oa-oa-oa
Whoa-oa-oa-oa
Whoa-oa-oa-oa
Whoa-oa-oa-oa
We were a group of misfits working out of Chatham Docks
What we earned we stole and we earned a handsome lot
We were as thick as thieves just like some famous singer sung
We were free and ostentatious we were reckless we were young
We stole from rich and poor alike and gave back not a jot
Mistrusted by the locals and wanted by the cops
If unarmed we'd dodge trouble using just a sliver tongue
But if one of us got caught then we'd spring him before he swung
That's treachery
Whoa-oa-oa-oa
Whoa-oa-oa-oa
Whoa-oa-oa-oa
Whoa-oa-oa-oa
Once we stole on board a trading ship to see what we could find
The ship set sail with us on board which left us in a bind
We were shanghaied into the crew thought we begged to be set free
So I set about below deck to start a mutiny
I convinced most of the crewmen that their captain was unkind
But as I spoke to them I couldn't see what went on behind
I put our case to the captain who ordered our re-arrest by decree
So we went to war with the top brass and the few who didn't agree
That's treachery
Whoa-oa-oa-oa
Whoa-oa-oa-oa
Whoa-oa-oa-oa
Whoa-oa-oa-oa
In the melee things got confused and I came face to face
With two of my old gang who backed me against the mainbrace
They explained that I had grown apart from what they now all thought
They'd decided to become corsairs so my mutiny was for naught
Another came from my blindside and grabbed me by the face
Shoved a knife into my side and bade me go in god's grace
They threw me off the ship the next time that they reached port
Thunderbolt Pier's where I beg now with only tales of how I fought
That's treachery
Whoa-oa-oa-oa
Whoa-oa-oa-oa
Whoa-oa-oa-oa
Whoa-oa-oa-oa
