Lyrics
Let me introduce you to the lady on the corner She's never spoken to anyone, so we just call her Nora
She patrols about the houses with a stuffed cat and a cane
We dare to look her in the eye, cause we fear she's insane
She'll go round your house and chew you out if something's out of order
This little town might be down and out, but not on Nora's border
Nora moans about the parking and complains about the bins
If you do not collect your bins the instant that they're in
Nora calls the council on the phone and tells them all about it
And then you get a letter through, and you can't even doubt it
You already know who called them up, you already know the culprit
It's that busybody Nora, and now everybody knows that
Nora is a nosy neighbour, she's always been the neighbourhood complainer
You better hope she don't come around, because she's only here to scream and shout
She's always sticking her nose in the neighbours' roses
She's always sticking her nose in, and always moaning
Now the people they done had enough they try to take no notice
But the busybody Nora, every door's another open
The postman was late today, by my time two minutes
The people sigh as she complains, cause they know they're in for it
How dare he stop to chat to number 32 and 40
Don't he know the letter that I'm waiting for's important
Don't he have no regard for manners or good timing
And then he has the cheek to knock on my door, still smiling
Well I quickly set him straight, when I told him my complaint
And don't you say good morning to me son, I ain't your mate
Now on your bike, cause you've got other letters to deliver
And let this be a lesson for you to learn to not to dither
Nora is a nosy neighbour, she's always been the neighbourhood complainer
You better hope she don't come around, because she's only here to scream and shout
She's always sticking her nose in the neighbours' roses
She's always sticking her nose in, and always moaning
Nora hears a noise outside in the middle of the night
She peeps between the blinds and sees the neighbour struggling with his bike
She turns on all the lights to get better sight and gave the man a fright
It wasn't the neighbour at all but a fool who stood in his place like deer in lights
Nora grabbed a cane and called him names until he ran away
Everybody heard the heroic deed that Nora done that day
They bought her tea and biscuits, thank you everybody had to say
Now she's greeted with smiles all the while she makes her way
Very quick she went from the old lady you do not offend
To the hero of the cul-de-sac, the last line of defence
So thieves be warned, if you should enter Nora's watchful border
You'll be scorned, the hero adored but we just call her Nora
Nora is a nosy neighbour, she's always been the neighbourhood complainer
You better hope she don't come around, because she's only here to scream and shout
She's always sticking her nose in, the neighbours roses
She's always sticking her nose in, and always moaning
She's always sticking her nose in, and the neighbours roses
She's always sticking her nose in, and always moaning
