Chop chop, when will they stop

Tearing down my old playgrounds

So many places I used to play

And so many friends they're gone away

How the time flies

It was late 70's and I was starting to tell time

Met a girl in school named Caroline

I'll never forget our little romance

She was my date at the first school dance

But it didn't last

It was 3rd grade

We were learning measure and weights

That we'd use in a trade some day

I knew that Caroline was drifting away

The world that we'd shared became a feather on the breeze

She vanished like a dream

6th grade

Ran home from school

The kids were cruel because I wasn't very cool

I tried to call her and just say "hi"

Her mother said she wasn't home though it was a lie

Missed her even more

Profit can you stop it in a growing market

There's no place you can go

And completely block it

Checks and balances, "stay focused" we're told

But memories of true beauty never go
