Houses on Clinton Avenue wrapped in solitude

The lamps on the street-lighting like t.v.

Where could solitude take us in the world

Was there life before death-could we go out dressed like this

Who would understand what we couldn't express

We were lost to it as soon as we were free with music time disappeared

I remember you with that cigarette failing your second drivers test

You could only see patterns of annoyance through your hair

How I wanted to be that cigarette between your lips on your breath

In a scene filled with music, i'd drive you out of there

Here we are in the world stilled with solitude

Don't you find it strange what's missing never changes
