Lyrics
It took an awful lot of work just to reach a place I hate
Looking back on all the hours spent they all now seem a waste
Realising they were opportunities to laugh with mates
And now them days are gone and it's a bitter pill to taste
Understanding all I'm good for is maybe singing songs
Got no intrinsic value and love is earned, I hope I'm wrong
And I could sing out all my problems but that would take too long
And when they're all made up there's plenty more where they came from
So, cuff my hands and guide my toes
And just take me somewhere where it feels like home
Or pack my bags and let's hit the road
I just want somebody who can tell me where the hell to go
Cuz I'm alone
And this don't feel like no place I'd call home
I hope to highest heavens I've been walking the right path
Cuz I don't want no regrets but now I'm starting to look back
And don't begin to tell me son you can't be living in the past
Cuz I know it's dead and gone and that's what stabbed me in the back
And I know I could be happy with this life if I just tried
And I know that Jesus loves me so in the end I'll be alright
But right now my mind is broken up and I've lost my sured stride
Cuz I see it all from two sides now and not sure which is right
So, cuff my hands and guide my toes
And just take me somewhere where it feels like home
Or pack my bags and let's hit the road
I just want somebody who can tell me where the hell to go
Cuz I'm alone
And this don't feel like no place I'd call home
And I got me here all by myself and when I look around
I just feel like I'm lost, like I'm waiting to be found
I just know I love my woman and some music-making sounds
But I'm backed into a corner please can someone get me out?
Or just cuff my hands and guide my toes
And just take me somewhere where it feels like home
Or pack my bags and let's hit the road
I just want somebody who can tell me where the hell to go
Cuz I'm alone
And this don't feel like no place I'd call home
