Lyrics
Read self-help books and now
He laughs more but still sits in his office
Shades drawn even in this mid-december gray
It reminds me of my mother and her fake
Laugh—if a laugh is obviously fake should the fake
Laugh still be used out of respect for what was said
Its comedic attempt or is it better to sit quietly? should
One ever fake laugh, or possess a laugh/the ability to produce
A laugh that is not genuine? we are locked into appearance of social
Interest and care
I fake care about my job so I will be hired
Off my contract and my monetary situation will remain stable
When perhaps monetary instability would create the psychic change
I so desire
I fake care about my life when all I hope for
End result is a load of things for somebody to find
Representing me, put me together piece by piece
For those who care to remember or those who wish they knew enough to see inside
I never fake cared about you
Although that reminder is much like a fake laugh
In that I consistently demonstrated my care. the statement is
Unnecessary. Much like when somebody says, "its okay
You can trust me." they probably cannot be trusted
Or, "I'm a good listener." means they cannot wait for you to stop
Talking so they can get in their bit of advice
If they can truly be trusted
Or
If they are in fact a good listener
It becomes obvious as they demonstrate
Via repetitive action, removing need for vocalization
Of their possession of said quality
So I will take my things back, the few
I left and hope you put that together
