I took a picture of the mountains

To remember what I saw

There was a neverending fountain

It's been flowing all along

I felt the beauty surrounding me

The bluest sky that I would ever see

Through the years the picture faded

All the color turned to grey

Do the mountains do the same?

I was so lost

Couldn't let it go

I loved that picture more than I could know

As time passed I grew a little jaded

I missed the mountains that I knew

And I found myself contemplating

What if the sky was never blue?

I was so down

I didn't know

How much it cost to let yourself go

Today I gained some fresh perspective

I went back to the mountains I used to love

All at once I stood corrected

The blue sky was hovering up above

And then it hit me

Maybe all along

The picture in my pocket could never do justice

To the mountains there in front of me

The blue sky that's hovering up above

But I'll still hold it close
