I woke from a strange dream

My radio was turned up to ten

The news was global pandemic and climate change

Insurrection, obstruction, more fires and rain

Well, my endurance is wearing thin

Can't stand to hear all this bad news again

Might have to buy something online

If I still have the money to spend

In a far-away country,

The enemy has just won the war

It's twenty years later, so many lives wasted

Now no one can say what the hell it was for

Don't even mention the trillions we spent

And hide in a world of pretend

Is there any escape from this state of anxiety

When I drove downtown

The sidewalks were covered in tents

The RVs broken down by the side of the road

Occupied by our neighbors who can't pay the rent

We'd all like to help if we could

Hope it won't affect our own neighborhood

We should speak out or something
