I'm checking the pages of my old phone book

I'm crossing out half the names inside

A couple of glances was all that it took

To realize half my friends have died

Some were overdosed. Others suicide

Some are still around, but they're dead inside

Every single word I say is true

Some got in car wrecks. Cancer. Heart attacks

Others met the devil on the railroad tracks

Don't know why I'm even telling you

Flipping through the pages of this old phone book

Wondering why I even care

I realize that I'd never bother calling to say hi

Even if these people were still there

I think I'll tear up this old phone book

There's no one to talk to, there inside

Living or dead, people are all the same to me
